Related Product Information for anti-KRT20 antibody
CytokeRatins are a subfamily of intermediate filament proteins and are characterized by a remarkable biochemical diversity, represented in Human epithelial tissues by at least 20 different polypeptides. They range in molecular weight between 40 kDa and 68 kDa and isoelectric pH between 4.9 - 7.8. The individual Human cytokeRatins are numbered 1 to 20. The various epithelia in the Human body usually express cytokeRatins which are not only characteristic of the type of epithelium, but also related to the degree of matuRation or differentiation within an epithelium. CytokeRatin subtype expression patterns are used to an increasing extent in the distinction of different types of epithelial malignancies. The cytokeRatin antibodies are not only of assistance in the differential identification of tumors using immunohistochemistry on tissue sections, but are also a useful tool in cytopathology and flow cytometric assays.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the keratin family. The keratins are intermediate filament proteins responsible for the structural integrity of epithelial cells and are subdivided into cytokeratins and hair keratins. The type I cytokeratins consist of acidic proteins which are arranged in pairs of heterotypic keratin chains. This cytokeratin is a major cellular protein of mature enterocytes and goblet cells and is specifically expressed in the gastric and intestinal mucosa. The type I cytokeratin genes are clustered in a region of chromosome 17q12-q21. [provided by RefSeq]

Uniprot Description

K20: a type I cytoskeletal keratin. The keratins are intermediate filament proteins responsible for the structural integrity of epithelial cells and are subdivided into cytokeratins and hair keratins. There are two types of cytoskeletal and microfibrillar keratin: type I (acidic; 40-55 kDa) [K9 to K20] and type II (neutral to basic; 56-70 kDa) [K1 to K8]. Both a basic and an acidic keratin are required for filament assembly.

Protein type: Cytoskeletal

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 17q21.2

Cellular Component: cytoplasm; intermediate filament

Molecular Function: protein binding; structural constituent of cytoskeleton

Biological Process: regulation of protein secretion; apoptosis; cellular response to stress; intermediate filament organization

Product Notes

The KRT20 krt20 (Catalog #AAA570010) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Mouse anti CytokeRatin 20 reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's CytokeRatin 20 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC) (frozen), Immunohistochemistry (IHC) (paraffin), Immunoprecipitation (IP), Western Blot (WB). MKs20-8 is suitable for immunoprecipitation, immunoblotting and immunohistochemistry on frozen and paraffin-embedded tissues. Optimal antibody dilution should be determined by titRation. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the KRT20 krt20 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CytokeRatin 20, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
