Related Product Information for anti-Cholera Toxin, alpha, Vibrio cholerae antibody
The cholera holotoxin consists of a pentameric ring of Beta subunits whose central pore is occupied by the Alpha subunit. The Alpha subunit contains two chains, A1 and A2, linked by a disulfide bridge. The Alpha subunit (and Cholera toxin) activates the adenylate cyclase enzyme in cells of the intestinal mucosa leading to increased levels of intracellular cAMP.

NCBI and Uniprot Product Information

NCBI GI #
NCBI Official Full Name
cholera toxin

Uniprot Description

The A1 chain catalyzes the ADP-ribosylation of Gs alpha, a GTP-binding regulatory protein, to activate the adenylate cyclase. This leads to an overproduction of cAMP and eventually to a hypersecretion of chloride and bicarbonate followed by water, resulting in the characteristic cholera stool. The A2 chain tethers A1 to the pentameric ring.

Product Notes

The Cholera Toxin, alpha, Vibrio cholerae (Catalog #AAA600903) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's Cholera Toxin, alpha, Vibrio cholerae can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA). Suitable for use in ELISA. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Cholera Toxin, alpha, Vibrio cholerae for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Cholera Toxin, alpha, Vibrio cholerae, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
