Related Product Information for anti-CDK2 antibody
A family of proteins designated as cdks are critical regulators of cell cycle progression. The prototype member of this family, p34cdc2, and a related protein cdk2, function late in the cycle while cdk4 and cdk6 are critically involved in G1 to S progression.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the Ser/Thr protein kinase family. This protein kinase is highly similar to the gene products of S. cerevisiae cdc28, and S. pombe cdc2. It is a catalytic subunit of the cyclin-dependent protein kinase complex, whose activity is restricted to the G1-S phase, and essential for cell cycle G1/S phase transition. This protein associates with and regulated by the regulatory subunits of the complex including cyclin A or E, CDK inhibitor p21Cip1 (CDKN1A) and p27Kip1 (CDKN1B). Its activity is also regulated by its protein phosphorylation. Two alternatively spliced variants and multiple transcription initiation sites of this gene have been reported. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

CDK2: a protein kinase of the CDK family. An important component of the cell cycle machinery. Activity of CDK2 is maximal during S phase and G2. Cdk2/cyclin E kinase activity is important for the G1 to S transition and phosphorylates the Rb protein. In S-phase, active cdk2/cyclin A complexes predominate and phosphorylate E2F, and the active cdk2 complex persists in the nucleus through G2. Part of the Rb pathway disregulated in most tumors. Target of several candidate cancer drugs. However, inhibition does not always prevent cancer cell growth, possibly due to CDK redundancy. Inhibitors: BMS-265246, BMS-265246-01, R-roscovitine (CYC200, CYC202), SU9516, R547, L868276

Product Notes

The CDK2 cdk2 (Catalog #AAA602755) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The cdk4, p34 (CDK4, Cyclin-dependent Kinase 4, p34cdk4) reacts with Human, Mouse, Porcine, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's cdk4, p34 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunoprecipitation (IP), Immunofluorescence (IF). Suitable for use in Immunofluorescence, Immunoprecipitation, Western Blot and Kinase assays. Dilution: Immunoprecipitation Native only; coprecipitates cyclin D's: 2ug/mg protein lysate. Use protein G Western Blot: 1-2ug/ml for 2 hours at RT. Optiml dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CDK2 cdk2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "cdk4, p34, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
