Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS)
Performance
Five x 105 cultured human Daudi cells were pre incubated 5 minutes with 20 mul of 250 mug/ml human Ig (to block non specific binding) after which they were incubated 45 minutes on ice with 80 mul of anti-CD79a/Biotin at 5 mug/ml. Cells were washed twice and incubated with 2 degree reagent Streptavidin/R-PE after which they were washed three times, fixed and analyzed by FACS. Cells stained positive with a mean shift of 2.42 log10 fluorescent units when compared to a Mouse IgG1/Biotin negative control at a similar concentration. Binding was blocked when cells were pre incubated 10 minutes with 20 mul of 0.5 mg/ml anti-CD79a antibody.

Related Product Information for anti-CD79a antibody
Information: Human CD79a is a 22kd glycoprotein which associates with CD79b to form a functional heterodimer that interacts with membrane immunoglobulin (mIg).The mIgM component binds antigen and the heterodimer transduces signals. Antibody ZL7-4 recognizes the extracellular part of CD79a.

NCBI Description

The B lymphocyte antigen receptor is a multimeric complex that includes the antigen-specific component, surface immunoglobulin (Ig). Surface Ig non-covalently associates with two other proteins, Ig-alpha and Ig-beta, which are necessary for expression and function of the B-cell antigen receptor. This gene encodes the Ig-alpha protein of the B-cell antigen component. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

Ig-alpha: an integral membrane protein that associates with surface immunoglobulin B lymphocyte antigen receptor multimeric complex. Surface Ig non-covalently associates with 2 other proteins, Ig-alpha and Ig-beta, which are necessary for expression and function of the B-cell antigen receptor. Two alternatively spliced isoforms have been described.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral; Immunoglobulin superfamily

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 19q13.2

Cellular Component: multivesicular body; plasma membrane; integral to membrane; B cell receptor complex; external side of plasma membrane; lipid raft

Molecular Function: transmembrane receptor activity

Biological Process: B cell proliferation; B cell receptor signaling pathway; B cell activation; B cell differentiation

Product Notes

The CD79a cd79a (Catalog #AAA666219) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The anti-human CD79a-Biotin reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's CD79a can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CD79a cd79a for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CD79a, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
