Related Product Information for anti-CD4 antibody
CD4 is a 51 kDa membrane glycoprotein that is expressed on subsets of thymocytes and mature T lymphocytes where it works as co-receptor for T-cell receptor and interacts with MHC Class II processed antigens. CD4 is also expressed on surface of monocytes, macrophages and dendritic cells. CD4 also regulates T-cell activation and differention. CD4 is identified as the cellular receptor for HIV and several other viral infections. CD4 is highly expressed in thymus, spleen and lymphocyte.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a membrane glycoprotein of T lymphocytes that interacts with major histocompatibility complex class II antigenes and is also a receptor for the human immunodeficiency virus. This gene is expressed not only in T lymphocytes, but also in B cells, macrophages, and granulocytes. It is also expressed in specific regions of the brain. The protein functions to initiate or augment the early phase of T-cell activation, and may function as an important mediator of indirect neuronal damage in infectious and immune-mediated diseases of the central nervous system. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified in this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2010]

Uniprot Description

CD4: Accessory protein for MHC class-II antigen/T-cell receptor interaction. May regulate T-cell activation. Induces the aggregation of lipid rafts. Associates with LCK. Binds to HIV-1 gp120 and to P4HB/PDI and upon HIV-1 binding to the cell membrane, is part of P4HB/PDI- CD4-CXCR4-gp120 complex. Interacts with HIV-1 Envelope polyprotein gp160 and protein Vpu. Interacts with Human Herpes virus 7 capsid proteins. Interacts with PTK2/FAK1; this interaction requires the presence of HIV-1 gp120.

Product Notes

The CD4 cd4 (Catalog #AAA668301) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Monoclonal Antibody to CD4 (Clone: RPA-T4) FITC Conjugated reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's CD4 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS). Flow Cytometry: 0.5 ug/10^6 cells. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CD4 cd4 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CD4, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
