Related Product Information for anti-CD231 antibody
CD231 (TALLA-1, T-ALL-asociated antigen 1), also known as tetraspanin 7, is a 150 kDa (under reducing conditions 32-45 kDa) transmembrane glycoprotein of tetraspanin family, expressed in T-type acute lymphoblastic leukemia, neuroblastoma, and neuronal tissue. Mutations of CD231 gene are associated with X-linked mental retardation, Huntington's chorea, and myotonic dystrophy. CD231 interacts with integrins and may have a role in the control of neurite outgrowth. Antibodies to CD231 are important for detection of T-ALL and are potential targets of its treatment.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the transmembrane 4 superfamily, also known as the tetraspanin family. Most of these members are cell-surface proteins that are characterized by the presence of four hydrophobic domains. The proteins mediate signal transduction events that play a role in the regulation of cell development, activation, growth and motility. This encoded protein is a cell surface glycoprotein and may have a role in the control of neurite outgrowth. It is known to complex with integrins. This gene is associated with X-linked cognitive disability and neuropsychiatric diseases such as Huntington's chorea, fragile X syndrome and myotonic dystrophy. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

TSPAN7: a multi-pass membrane protein. Member of the transmembrane 4 superfamily, also known as the tetraspanin family. These proteins apparently mediate signal transduction events that play a role in the regulation of cell development, activation, growth and motility. Defects in TSPAN7 are the cause of mental retardation X- linked type 58 (MRX58). Mental retardation is characterized by significantly sub-average general intellectual functioning associated with impairments in adaptative behavior and manifested during the developmental period. Non-syndromic mental retardation patients do not manifest other clinical signs.

Protein type: Membrane protein, multi-pass; Membrane protein, integral

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: Xp11.4

Cellular Component: integral to plasma membrane

Biological Process: viral reproduction

Disease: Mental Retardation, X-linked 58

Product Notes

The CD231 tspan7 (Catalog #AAA1800373) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-Hu CD231 Purified reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's CD231 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS), Immunoprecipitation (IP), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). FC/FACS: QC tested. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CD231 tspan7 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CD231, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
