Recognizes CD15 (3-FAL), a 220kDa carbohydrate structure, also known as a hapten. CD15 antigen is expressed on >95% of peripheral blood granulocytes, including neutrophils and eosinophils, and expressed on monocytes to varying degrees. But CD15 monoclonal antibody does not react with basophils and lymphocytes . CD15 molecules mediate sugar molecule-sugar molecule interactions and mediate phagocytosis, sterilization and chemotaxis. CD15 is a typing marker for leukemia.
