Related Product Information for anti-CD14 antibody
CD14 is a 53-55 kD glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-linked membrane glycoprotein also known as LPS receptor. CD14 is expressed on macrophages, dendritic cells, Kupffer cells, hepatocytes, and granulocytes. As a high-affinity receptor for LPS-LBP (LPS-binding protein) complex, CD14, in association with Toll-like Receptor 4 (TLR4) or 2 (TLR2), is involved in the clearance of gram-negative pathogens.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a protein that plays an important role in the innate immune response and is expressed in monocyte/macrophage cells. This gene product acts as a co-receptor that binds several microbial and fungal molecules, including lipopolysaccharides (LPS). This proteins LPS-binding activity is enhanced by the LPS binding protein (LBP) to allow binding to the TLR4-MD-2 co-receptor complex. The product of this gene is found in two forms, either as a soluble protein or attached to the cell surface by a glycosylphosphatidylinositol anchor. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2014]

Uniprot Description

CD14: Cooperates with MD-2 and TLR4 to mediate the innate immune response to bacterial lipopolysaccharide (LPS). Acts via MyD88, TIRAP and TRAF6, leading to NF-kappa-B activation, cytokine secretion and the inflammatory response. Up-regulates cell surface molecules, including adhesion molecules.

Protein type: Membrane protein, GPI anchor

Cellular Component: anchored to external side of plasma membrane; cell surface; external side of plasma membrane; extracellular space; Golgi apparatus; lipid raft; lipopolysaccharide receptor complex; plasma membrane

Molecular Function: lipopolysaccharide binding

Biological Process: inflammatory response; lipopolysaccharide-mediated signaling pathway; positive regulation of cytokine secretion; positive regulation of endocytosis; positive regulation of interferon type I production; positive regulation of interferon-gamma production; positive regulation of tumor necrosis factor production; receptor-mediated endocytosis; response to bacterium; response to molecule of bacterial origin; toll-like receptor 4 signaling pathway

Product Notes

The CD14 cd14 (Catalog #AAA2559241) is an Antibody produced from Rat and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-Mouse CD14 Monoclonal Antibody (PE/Cyanine7 Conjugated) [Sa14-2] reacts with Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's CD14 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS). Each lot of this antibody is quality control tested by immunofluorescent staining with flow cytometric analysis. For flow cytometric staining, the suggested use of this reagent is <= 2 ug per 106 cells in 100 ul volume or 100 ul of whole blood. It is recommended that the reagent be titrated for optimal performance for each application. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CD14 cd14 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CD14, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
