Related Product Information for anti-CASP-6 antibody
Caspase-6 is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the CASP6 gene. Caspase-6 has known functions in apoptosis, early immune response and neurodegenration in Huntington's and Alzheimer's disease. Caspase-6 is a member of the cysteine-aspartic acid protease (caspase) family. Caspase-6 plays a role in the early immune response via de-repression. It reduces the expression of the immunosuppressant cytokine interleukin-10 and cleaves the macrophage suppressing IRAK-M. With respect to neurodegeneration, caspase-6 cleaves HTT in Huntington's and APP in Alzheimer's disease. Alternative splicing of this gene results in two transcript variants that encode different isoforms.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the cysteine-aspartic acid protease (caspase) family of enzymes. Sequential activation of caspases plays a central role in the execution-phase of cell apoptosis. Caspases exist as inactive proenzymes which undergo proteolytic processing at conserved aspartic acid residues to produce two subunits, large and small, that dimerize to form the active enzyme. This protein is processed by caspases 7, 8 and 10, and is thought to function as a downstream enzyme in the caspase activation cascade. Alternative splicing of this gene results in multiple transcript variants that encode different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2015]

Uniprot Description

Involved in the activation cascade of caspases responsible for apoptosis execution. Cleaves poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase in vitro, as well as lamins. Overexpression promotes programmed cell death.

Product Notes

The CASP-6 casp6 (Catalog #AAA435299) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Caspase-6 mAb reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Caspase-6 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunoprecipitation (IP). WB: 1:1000-1:2000 IP: 1:50. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CASP-6 casp6 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Caspase-6, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
