Related Product Information for anti-CARD8 antibody
Apoptosis is related to many diseases and development. Cell death signals are transduced by death domain (DD), death effector domain (DED), and caspase recruitment domain (CARD) containing molecules. CARD containing proteins include some caspases, Apaf-1, CARD4, IAPs, RICK, ARC, RAIDD, BCL-10, and ASC. A novel CARDcontaining protein was recently identified and designated CARD8. This protein interacts with DRAL, a p53-responsive protein implicated in the induction of apoptosis, and caspase-1 and its related proteins ICEBERG and pesudo- ICE. Although there are conflicting reports on whether CARD8 acts a pro- or anti-apoptotic protein, it has been suggested that it functions as an adaptor molecule regulating caspase-1 and NF-£eB activation.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the caspase recruitment domain (CARD)-containing family of proteins, which are involved in pathways leading to activation of caspases or nuclear factor kappa-B (NFKB). This protein may be a component of the inflammasome, a protein complex that plays a role in the activation of proinflammatory caspases. It is thought that this protein acts as an adaptor molecule that negatively regulates NFKB activation, CASP1-dependent IL1B secretion, and apoptosis. Polymorphisms in this gene may be associated with a susceptibility to rheumatoid arthritis. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described for this gene. [provided by RefSeq]

Uniprot Description

CARD8: Inhibits NF-kappa-B activation. May participate in a regulatory mechanism that coordinates cellular responses controlled by NF-kappa-B transcription factor. May be a component of the inflammasome, a protein complex which also includes PYCARD, NALP2 and CASP1 and whose function would be the activation of proinflammatory caspases. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Inhibitor; Apoptosis

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 19q13.33

Cellular Component: nucleoplasm; cytoplasm; nucleus

Molecular Function: protein binding; NACHT domain binding; protein homodimerization activity; caspase activator activity

Biological Process: caspase activation; positive regulation of caspase activity; positive regulation of interleukin-1 beta secretion; negative regulation of I-kappaB kinase/NF-kappaB cascade

Product Notes

The CARD8 card8 (Catalog #AAA600245) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The CARD8 (Caspase Recruitment Domain, Cardinal/TUCAN) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's CARD8 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunoprecipitation (IP), Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS), Immunofluorescence (IF), Dot Blot (DB). Recommended Dilutions: Flow Cytometry: 0.5-2ug/ml Western Blot: 0.2-2ug/ml Immunocytochemistry: 2-100ug/ml Immunoprecipitation: 100-500ug/sample Optimal dilutions should be determined by the researcher. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CARD8 card8 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CARD8, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
