NCBI Description

Members of the CEACAM subfamily, including CEACAM5, belong to the CEA gene family. For general information on the CEA gene family, see CEACAM1 (MIM 109770).[supplied by OMIM, Oct 2009]

Uniprot Description

CEACAM5: Cell surface glycoprotein that plays a role in cell adhesion and in intracellular signaling. Receptor for E.coli Dr adhesins. Homodimer. Binding of E.coli Dr adhesins leads to dissociation of the homodimer. Found in adenocarcinomas of endodermally derived digestive system epithelium and fetal colon. Belongs to the immunoglobulin superfamily. CEA family.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral; Immunoglobulin superfamily; Membrane protein, GPI anchor

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 19q13.1-q13.2

Cellular Component: basolateral plasma membrane; integral to plasma membrane

Molecular Function: identical protein binding; protein homodimerization activity

Biological Process: homotypic cell-cell adhesion; negative regulation of apoptosis

Product Notes

The CEA ceacam5 (Catalog #AAA6122592) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Carcinoembryonic Antigen (Carcinoembryonic Antigen-related Cell Adhesion Molecule 5, CEACAM5, CEA, CD66, Biliary Glycoprotein (BGP-1)) (APC) reacts with Human, Monkey and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Carcinoembryonic Antigen can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS), Immunofluorescence (IF), Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Frozen/Paraffin, Immunoprecipitation (IP), Western Blot (WB). FC/FACS: 0.5-1ug/million cells IHC-F/P: 1-2ug/ml for 30 min at RT IP: 1-2ug/500ug protein IF: 1-2ug/ml WB: 0.25-0.5ug/ml Applications are based on unconjugated antibody. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CEA ceacam5 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Carcinoembryonic Antigen, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
