Rabbit anti-Human C-reactive/CRP Monoclonal Antibody | anti-CRP antibody
C-reactive/CRP Monoclonal Antibody
In NaCl with 15 mM NaN3 (pH 7.4)
The antibody solution should be gently mixed before use.
C-reactive protein (CRP) is an annular (ring-shaped); pentameric protein found in blood plasma; the levels of which rise in response to inflammation (i.e.; C-reactive protein is an acute-phase protein of hepatic origin that increases following interleukin-6 secretion from macrophages and T cells). Its physiological role is to bind to lysophosphatidylcholine expressed on the surface of dead or dying cells (and some types of bacteria) in order to activate the complement system via the C1Q complex. CRP is synthesized by the liver in response to factors released by macrophages and fat cells (adipocytes). It is a member of the pentraxin family of proteins. It is not related to C-peptide (insulin) or protein C (blood coagulation). C-reactive protein was the first pattern recognition receptor (PRR) to be identified.
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the pentaxin family. It is involved in several host defense related functions based on its ability to recognize foreign pathogens and damaged cells of the host and to initiate their elimination by interacting with humoral and cellular effector systems in the blood. Consequently, the level of this protein in plasma increases greatly during acute phase response to tissue injury, infection, or other inflammatory stimuli. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009]
Uniprot Description
CRP: Displays several functions associated with host defense: it promotes agglutination, bacterial capsular swelling, phagocytosis and complement fixation through its calcium-dependent binding to phosphorylcholine. Can interact with DNA and histones and may scavenge nuclear material released from damaged circulating cells. Belongs to the pentaxin family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
Protein type: Secreted; Secreted, signal peptide
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1q23.2
Cellular Component: extracellular space
Molecular Function: calcium ion binding; choline binding; complement component C1q binding; low-density lipoprotein binding; low-density lipoprotein receptor binding; protein binding; virion binding
Biological Process: acute-phase response; defense response to Gram-positive bacterium; inflammatory response; opsonization; positive regulation of superoxide release

Product Notes
The CRP crp (Catalog #AAA846086) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The C-reactive/CRP Monoclonal Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's C-reactive/CRP can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA); LEITA; Lateral Flow Immunoassays. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CRP crp for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "C-reactive/CRP, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
