NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes proteins related to the first discovered blood group system, ABO. Which allele is present in an individual determines the blood group. The 'O' blood group is caused by a deletion of guanine-258 near the N-terminus of the protein which results in a frameshift and translation of an almost entirely different protein. Individuals with the A, B, and AB alleles express glycosyltransferase activities that convert the H antigen into the A or B antigen. Other minor alleles have been found for this gene. Uniprot Description
ABO: This protein is the basis of the ABO blood group system. The histo-blood group ABO involves three carbohydrate antigens: A, B, and H. A, B, and AB individuals express a glycosyltransferase activity that converts the H antigen to the A antigen (by addition of UDP-GalNAc) or to the B antigen (by addition of UDP-Gal), whereas O individuals lack such activity. Belongs to the glycosyltransferase 6 family.

Product Notes
The CD173 abo (Catalog #AAA847314) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-Blood Group Antigen An Antibody (CD173) (HE-193) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Blood Group Antigen A can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Agglutination, Immunofluorescence (IF), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). IF: 0.5-1ug/ml IHC: 0.5-1ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CD173 abo for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Blood Group Antigen A, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
