Related Product Information for anti-B2M antibody
B2M, also known as beta2-Microglobulin or CDABP0092, is a component of MHC class I molecules found expression in all nucleated cells (excludes red blood cells). The major function of MHC class I moleculesis is to display fragments of proteins from within the cell to T-cells and cells containing foreign proteins will be attacked. B2M (beta2-Microglobulin) is a low molecular weight protein. It was demonstrated that B2M (beta2-Microglobulin) was localized in the membranes of nucleated cells and was found to be associated with HL-A antigens. B2M (beta2-Microglobulin) is present in free form in various body fluids and as a subunit of histocompatibility antigens on cell surfaces lateral to the alpha3 chain. Unlike alpha3, beta2 has no transmembrane region. Directly above beta2 lies the alpha1 chain, which itself is lateral to the alpha2. In the absence of B2M (beta2 microglobulin), very limited amounts of MHC class I (classical and non-classical) molecules can be detected on the surface. In the absence of MHC class I, CD8 T cells, a subset of T cells involved in the development of acquired immunity cannot develop. Low levels of B2M (beta2 microglobulin) can indicate non-progression of HIV.

NCBI Description

mouse homolog plays a role in the assembly and surface expression of MHC class I molecules [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

B2M: Component of the class I major histocompatibility complex (MHC). Involved in the presentation of peptide antigens to the immune system. Heterodimer of an alpha chain and a beta chain. Beta-2- microglobulin is the beta-chain of major histocompatibility complex class I molecules. Polymers of beta 2-microglobulin can be found in tissues from patients on long-term hemodialysis. Belongs to the beta-2-microglobulin family.

Product Notes

The B2M b2m (Catalog #AAA8113004) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Recombinant Anti-Beta-2 microglobulin Antibody, Rabbit Monoclonal reacts with Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Beta-2 microglobulin can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), ELISA (EIA) (Det), Immunohistochemistry-Paraffin (IHC-P). ELISA: 1:5000-1:10,000 IHC-P: 1:100-1:500 ELISA (Det): 1:1000-1:10,000 ELISA (Det): This antibody will detect Rat Beta-2 microglobulin/B2M in ELISA pair set. In a sandwich ELISA, it can be used as detection antibody when paired with. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the B2M b2m for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Beta-2 microglobulin, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
