Related Product Information for anti-BCL3 antibody
The gene encoding Bcl-3 was first identified as the gene altered in some cases of chronic B cell lymphocytic leukemia and was later found to belong to the I kappa B subfamily of inhibitors of NF kappa B transcription factors. Bcl-3 does not have DNA-binding activity, but it interacts with NF kappa B1 and NF kappa B2 which, when bound to DNA, repress gene transcription. Therefore, Bcl-3 may promote gene expression that is repressed by members of the NF kappa B family. Bcl-3 RNA is highly expressed in spleen and liver with lower levels of expression in heart, skeletal muscle, lung, kidney, and testes.

NCBI Description

This gene is a proto-oncogene candidate. It is identified by its translocation into the immunoglobulin alpha-locus in some cases of B-cell leukemia. The protein encoded by this gene contains seven ankyrin repeats, which are most closely related to those found in I kappa B proteins. This protein functions as a transcriptional co-activator that activates through its association with NF-kappa B homodimers. The expression of this gene can be induced by NF-kappa B, which forms a part of the autoregulatory loop that controls the nuclear residence of p50 NF-kappa B. [provided by RefSeq]

Uniprot Description

Function: Contributes to the regulation of transcriptional activation of NF-kappa-B target genes. In the cytoplasm, inhibits the nuclear translocation of the NF-kappa-B p50 subunit. In the nucleus, acts as transcriptional activator that promotes transcription of NF-kappa-B target genes. Contributes to the regulation of cell proliferation

By similarity. Ref.4

Subunit structure: Component of a complex consisting of the NF-kappa-B p52-p52 homodimer and BCL3. Component of a complex consisting of the NF-kappa-B p50-p50 homodimer and BCL3. Interacts with N4BP2, COPS5 and PIR. Interacts with CYLD

By similarity. Ref.6 Ref.7

Subcellular location: Nucleus. Cytoplasm

By similarity. Cytoplasm › perinuclear region

By similarity. Note: Ubiquitination via 'Lys-63'-linked ubiquitin chains is required for nuclear accumulation

Post-translational modification: Polyubiquitinated. Ubiquitination via 'Lys-63'-linked ubiquitin chains is required for nuclear accumulation. Deubiquitinated by CYLD, which acts on 'Lys-63'-linked ubiquitin chains. Deubiquitination by CYLD prevents nuclear accumulation

By similarity.Activated by phosphorylation.

Involvement in disease: Note=A chromosomal aberration involving BCL3 may be a cause of B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B-CLL). Translocation t(14;19)(q32;q13.1) with immunoglobulin gene regions.

Sequence similarities: Contains 7 ANK repeats.

Caution: It is uncertain whether Met-1 or Met-9 is the initiator.

Sequence caution: The sequence AAA51815.1 differs from that shown. Reason: Erroneous initiation. Translation N-terminally extended. The sequence AAA51816.1 differs from that shown. Product Notes

The BCL3 bcl3 (Catalog #AAA190067) is an Antibody produced from Hamster and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's Bcl-3 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA, Immunoblot. Immunoblotting: use at 2 ug/ml. A band of approx. 46-52 kDa is detected. ELISA: end-user should determine optimal concentration for each sample. Positive control: Jurkat T cell lysate. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the BCL3 bcl3 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Bcl-3, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
