Related Product Information for anti-ACOT11 antibody
Introduction: ACOT11 is a protein with acyl-CoA thioesterase activity towards medium (C12) and long-chain (C18) fatty acyl-CoA substrates. Expression of a similar murine protein in brown adipose tissue is induced by cold exposure and repressed by warmth. Expression of the mouse ACOT11 has been linked to obesity, with higher expression found in obesity-resistant mice compared with obesity-prone mice.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the acyl-CoA thioesterase family which catalyse the conversion of activated fatty acids to the corresponding non-esterified fatty acid and coenzyme A. Expression of a mouse homolog in brown adipose tissue is induced by low temperatures and repressed by warm temperatures. Higher levels of expression of the mouse homolog has been found in obesity-resistant mice compared with obesity-prone mice, suggesting a role of acyl-CoA thioesterase 11 in obesity. Alternative splicing results in transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2010]

Uniprot Description

ACOT11: Has acyl-CoA thioesterase activity towards medium (C12) and long-chain (C18) fatty acyl-CoA substrates. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Hydrolase; EC 3.1.2.-

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1p32.3

Cellular Component: cytoplasm

Molecular Function: acyl-CoA hydrolase activity; lipid binding

Biological Process: response to temperature stimulus; response to cold; fatty acid metabolic process

Product Notes

The ACOT11 acot11 (Catalog #AAA140211) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's Acyl-Coenzyme A Thioesterase 11 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). ACOT11 antibody has been tested by ELISA, Western blot and immunohistochemistry analysis to assure specificity and reactivity. Since application varies, however, each investigation should be titrated by the reagent to obtain optimal results. Recommended dilution range for Western blot is 1:500 ~ 1:2,000 and immunohistochemistry analysis is 1:50~100. Recommended starting dilution for Western blot is 1:1,000 and Immunohistochemistry is 1:100. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the ACOT11 acot11 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Acyl-Coenzyme A Thioesterase 11, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
