Intended Uses: This SLC25A25 ELISA kit is a 1.5 hour solid-phase ELISA designed for the quantitative determination of Monkey SLC25A25. This ELISA kit for research use only, not for therapeutic or test applications!

Principle of the Assay: SLC25A25 ELISA kit applies the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique utilizing an anti-SLC25A25 antibody and an SLC25A25-HRP conjugate. The assay sample and buffer are incubated together with SLC25A25-HRP conjugate in pre-coated plate for one hour. After the incubation period, the wells are decanted and washed five times. The wells are then incubated with a substrate for HRP enzyme. The product of the enzyme-substrate reaction forms a blue colored complex. Finally, a stop solution is added to stop the reaction, which will then turn the solution yellow. The intensity of color is measured spectrophotometrically at 450nm in a microplate reader. The intensity of the color is inversely proportional to the SLC25A25 concentration since SLC25A25 from samples and SLC25A25-HRP conjugate compete for the anti-SLC25A25 antibody binding site. Since the number of sites is limited, as more sites are occupied by SLC25A25 from the sample, fewer sites are left to bind SLC25A25-HRP conjugate. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The SLC25A25 concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the family of calcium-binding mitochondrial carriers, with a characteristic mitochondrial carrier domain at the C-terminus. These proteins are found in the inner membranes of mitochondria, and function as transport proteins. They shuttle metabolites, nucleotides and cofactors through the mitochondrial membrane and thereby connect and/or regulate cytoplasm and matrix functions. This protein may function as an ATP-Mg/Pi carrier that mediates the transport of Mg-ATP in exchange for phosphate, and likely responsible for the net uptake or efflux of adenine nucleotides into or from the mitochondria. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms with a common C-terminus but variable N-termini have been described for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2012]
