Uniprot Description

Function: Reduction of methyl-coenzyme M (2-(methylthio) ethanesulfonic acid) with 7-mercaptoheptanoylthreonine phosphate to methane and a heterodisulfide.

Catalytic activity: Methyl-CoM + CoB = CoM-S-S-CoB + methane.

Cofactor: Binds 2 coenzyme F430 noncovalently per hexamer. Coenzyme F430 is a yellow nickel porphinoid

Potential.

Pathway: One-carbon metabolism; methyl-coenzyme M reduction; methane from methyl-coenzyme M: step 1/1.

Subunit structure: Heterotrimer composed of an alpha, a beta, and a gamma subunit.

Miscellaneous: Reduced ferredoxin could reductively reactivate the enzyme.

Biophysicochemical propertiesTemperature dependence:Optimum temperature is 60 degrees Celsius.

Product Notes

The Methyl-coenzyme M reductase subunit beta (Catalog #AAA1225316) is a Recombinant Protein produced from E Coli or Yeast or Baculovirus or Mammalian Cell and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is 1-18aa; full length protein. The amino acid sequence is listed below: SDTVDIYDAG KILERVII. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Methyl-coenzyme M reductase subunit beta, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
