Related Product Information for MKK4 / MEK4 / MAP2K4 recombinant protein
Background: Mouse dual specificity mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase 4, also known as MAP kinase kinase 4, MAPKK4, JNK-activating kinase 1, MAPK/ERK kinase 4, SAPK/ERK kinase 1, c-Jun N-terminal kinase kinase 1, JNKK and MAP2K4, is a protein which belongs to the protein kinase superfamily, STE Ser/Thr protein kinase family and MAP kinase kinase subfamily. MAP2K4 / JNKK1 is a protein kinase which is a direct activator of MAP kinases in response to various environmental stresses or mitogenic stimuli. MAP2K4 / JNKK1 has been shown to activate MAPK8 / JNK1, MAPK9 / JNK2, and MAPK14 / p38, but not MAPK1 / ERK2 or MAPK3 / ERK1. MAP2K4 / JNKK1 is phosphorylated, and thus activated by MAP3K1 / MEKK. The stress-activated protein kinase (SAPK) pathways represent phosphorylation cascades that convey pro-apoptotic signals. The mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase (MAPKK) homolog MAP2K4 (MKK4, SEK, JNKK1) is a centrally-placed mediator of the SAPK pathways.

Description: A DNA sequence encoding the mouse MAP2K4 (P47809) (Ala 2-Asp 397) was fused with the N-terminal polyhistidine-tagged GST tag at the N-terminus.

Uniprot Description

MKK4: dual specificity kinase of the STE7 family that phosphorylates and activates JNK1 and -2 as well as p38 but not ERK1 or -2. Mediates cellular responses to various cellular stresses and inflammatory cytokines. Phosphorylation by Akt inhibits MKK4 and suppresses stress-activated signal transduction.

Product Notes

The MKK4 / MEK4 / MAP2K4 map2k4 (Catalog #AAA2546869) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Baculovirus-Insect Cells and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The secreted recombinant mouse MAP2K4/GST chimera consists of 633 amino acids and has a calculated molecular mass of 72 kDa. The recombinant protein migrates as an approximately 65 kDa band in SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MKK4 / MEK4 / MAP2K4 map2k4 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "MKK4 / MEK4 / MAP2K4, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
