Related Product Information for anti-MAP2K4 antibody
Dual specificity mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase 4, also known as MAP kinase kinase 4, MAPKK4, JNK-activating kinase 1, MAPK/ERK kinase 4, SAPK/ERK kinase 1, c-Jun N-terminal kinase kinase 1, JNKK, and MAP2K4, is a protein that belongs to the protein kinase superfamily, STE Ser/Thr protein kinase family and MAP kinase kinase subfamily. MAP2K4/JNKK1 is a protein kinase that is a direct activator of MAP kinases in response to various environmental stresses or mitogenic stimuli. MAP2K4/JNKK1 has been shown to activate MAPK8/JNK1, MAPK9/JNK2, and MAPK14/p38, but not MAPK1/ERK2 or MAPK3/ERK1. MAP2K4/JNKK1 is phosphorylated, and thus activated by MAP3K1/MEKK. The stress-activated protein kinase (SAPK) pathways represent phosphorylation cascades that convey pro-apoptotic signals. The mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase (MAPKK) homolog MAP2K4 (MKK4, SEK, JNKK1) is a centrally-placed mediator of the SAPK pathways.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a dual specificity protein kinase that belongs to the Ser/Thr protein kinase family. This kinase is a direct activator of MAP kinases in response to various environmental stresses or mitogenic stimuli. It has been shown to activate MAPK8/JNK1, MAPK9/JNK2, and MAPK14/p38, but not MAPK1/ERK2 or MAPK3/ERK3. This kinase is phosphorylated, and thus activated by MAP3K1/MEKK. The knockout studies in mice suggested the roles of this kinase in mediating survival signal in T cell development, as well as in the organogenesis of liver. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

MKK4: dual specificity kinase of the STE7 family that phosphorylates and activates JNK1 and -2 as well as p38 but not ERK1 or -2. Mediates cellular responses to various cellular stresses and inflammatory cytokines. Phosphorylation by Akt inhibits MKK4 and suppresses stress-activated signal transduction.

Product Notes

The MAP2K4 map2k4 (Catalog #AAA8102973) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-MKK4 Antibody, Rabbit Polyclonal reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's MKK4 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry-Paraffin (IHC-P), Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Immunofluorescence (IF). IHC-P: 1:500-1:2000 ICC/IF: 1:300-1:10,000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MAP2K4 map2k4 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "MKK4, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
