Intended Uses: This MAP1A1BLC3beta ELISA kit is a 1.5 hour solid-phase ELISA designed for the quantitative determination of Human MAP1A1BLC3beta. This ELISA kit for research use only!

Principle of the Assay: MAP1A1BLC3beta ELISA kit applies the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique utilizing a polyclonal anti-MAP1A1BLC3beta antibody and an MAP1A1BLC3beta-HRP conjugate. The assay sample and buffer are incubated together with MAP1A1BLC3beta-HRP conjugate in pre-coated plate for one hour. After the incubation period, the wells are decanted and washed five times. The wells are then incubated with a substrate for HRP enzyme. The product of the enzyme-substrate reaction forms a blue colored complex. Finally, a stop solution is added to stop the reaction, which will then turn the solution yellow. The intensity of color is measured spectrophotometrically at 450nm in a microplate reader. The intensity of the color is inversely proportional to the MAP1A1BLC3beta concentration since MAP1A1BLC3beta from samples and MAP1A1BLC3beta-HRP conjugate compete for the anti-MAP1A1BLC3beta antibody binding site. Since the number of sites is limited, as more sites are occupied by MAP1A1BLC3beta from the sample, fewer sites are left to bind MAP1A1BLC3beta-HRP conjugate. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The MAP1A1BLC3beta concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a protein that belongs to the microtubule-associated protein family. The proteins of this family are thought to be involved in microtubule assembly, which is an essential step in neurogenesis. The products of similar genes in rat and mouse are neuron-specific cytoskeletal proteins that are enriched in dentrites, implicating a role in determining and stabilizing dentritic shape during neuron development. A number of alternatively spliced variants encoding distinct isoforms have been described. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2010]

Uniprot Description

MAP2: a member of the microtubule-associated protein (MAP) family. Its exact function is unknown but MAPs appear to stabilize the microtubules against depolymerization. They also seem to have a stiffening effect on microtubules. Expressed at high levels in neural tissue and the prostate. Four alternatively spliced transcript variants have been reported.

Product Notes

The Monkey MAP-2 map2 (Catalog #AAA735440) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA735440 ELISA Kit recognizes Monkey MAP-2. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Microtubule-associated protein 2, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
