Principle of the Assay: This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for LGALS1 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any LGALS1 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for LGALS1 is added to the wells. After washing, avidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of LGALS1 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

Uniprot Description

Galectin-1: May regulate apoptosis, cell proliferation and cell differentiation. Binds beta-galactoside and a wide array of complex carbohydrates. Inhibits CD45 protein phosphatase activity and therefore the dephosphorylation of Lyn kinase. Homodimer. Binds LGALS3BP. Interacts with CD2, CD3, CD4, CD7, CD43 and CD45. Interacts with laminin (via poly-N- acetyllactosamine). Expressed in placenta, maternal decidua and fetal membranes. Within placenta, expressed in trophoblasts, stromal cells, villous endothelium, syncytiotrophoblast apical membrane and villous stroma. Within fetal membranes, expressed in amnion, chorioamniotic mesenchyma and chorion. Expressed in cardiac, smooth, and skeletal muscle, neurons, thymus, kidney and hematopoietic cells.

Product Notes

The Mouse LGALS1 lgals1 (Catalog #AAA916526) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA916526 ELISA Kit recognizes Mouse LGALS1. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "lectin, galactoside-binding, soluble, 1, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
