Related Product Information for KLK11 recombinant protein
Background: kallikrein-related peptidase 11 (KLK11), also known as hippostasin, trypsin-like serine protease and PRSS20, is a member of human tissue kallikrein family. It is a subgroup of serine proteases with diverse physiological functions, which is implicated in carcinogenesis and some with potential that serving as novel biomarkers for ovarian and prostate cancer and other diseases. The KLK11 gene is one of the fifteen kallikrein subfamily members located in a cluster on chromosome 19. Two alternatively spliced forms exist, resulting in 250 (isoform 1) and 282 (isoform 2) amino acid sequences. Isoform 2 is identical to isoform 1, except for an inserted 32 amino acid segment. Isoform 1 is predominantly expressed in brain whereas isoform 2 is preferentially expressed in prostate.

Description: A DNA sequence encoding the human KLK11 isoform 1 (NP_006844.1) (Met 1-Asn 250) with a C-terminal polyhistidine tag was expressed.

NCBI Description

Kallikreins are a subgroup of serine proteases having diverse physiological functions. Growing evidence suggests that many kallikreins are implicated in carcinogenesis and some have potential as novel cancer and other disease biomarkers. This gene is one of the fifteen kallikrein subfamily members located in a cluster on chromosome 19. Alternate splicing and the use of alternate promoters results in multiple transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms which are differentially expressed. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2016]

Uniprot Description

KLK11: Possible multifunctional protease. Efficiently cleaves 'bz-Phe-Arg-4-methylcoumaryl-7-amide', a kallikrein substrate, and weakly cleaves other substrates for kallikrein and trypsin. Cleaves synthetic peptides after arginine but not lysine residues. Belongs to the peptidase S1 family. Kallikrein subfamily. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: EC 3.4.21.-; Protease; Secreted; Secreted, signal peptide

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 19q13.41

Cellular Component: extracellular space

Molecular Function: serine-type peptidase activity

Product Notes

The KLK11 klk11 (Catalog #AAA2546092) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Human Cells and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The secreted recombinant human KLKL11 comprises 243 amino acids with a predicted molecular mass of 27 kDa. As a result of glycosylation, rhKLK11 migrates as an approximately 40 kDa band in SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the KLK11 klk11 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "KLK11 / Kallikrein-11, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
