Related Product Information for IKK beta active protein
IKKbeta is a serine/threonine protein kinase that phosphorylates the I-kappa-B protein which is an inhibitor of the transcription factor NF-kappa-B complex. Phosphorylation of I-kappa-B protein triggers the degradation of the inhibitor via the ubiquitination pathway, thereby activating NF-kappa-B complex. The activity of IKKbeta is stimulated by TNF and IL1 and IKKbeta forms a heterodimer that interacts with NIK. Overexpression of catalytically inactive IKKbeta blocks cytokine-induced NF-kappa-B activation. Aspirin and sodium salicylate can specifically inhibit IKKbeta activity in vitro and in vivo by binding to IKKbeta to reduce ATP binding.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene phosphorylates the inhibitor in the inhibitor/NF-kappa-B complex, causing dissociation of the inhibitor and activation of NF-kappa-B. The encoded protein itself is found in a complex of proteins. Several transcript variants, some protein-coding and some not, have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2011]

Product Notes

The IKK beta (Catalog #AAA4160176) is an Active Protein produced from Insect Cells and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "IKK beta, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
