> 90% by SDS-PAGE
Synonyms
CETP; Active Recombinant Human CETP; BPIFF; Cholesteryl ester transfer protein; HDLCQ10; Lipid transfer protein I; CETP active protein
Ordering
For Research Use Only!
Host
Insect Cells
Purity/Purification
> 90% by SDS-PAGE
Form/Format
Lyophilized from a Buffer containing 10 mM Tris and 150 mM NaCl.
Sequence Length
493
Application Notes
Active CETP is useful as standard in CETP activity assay, studying CETP regulation, determining target substrates, screening CETP inhibitors, performing structure-activity relationship (SAR) studies, etc. We recommend using 5-10 g protein per assay for analyzing CETP activity.
Reconstitution
Reconstitute in sterile water at 2 mg/ml.
Biological Activity
The CETP Activity Assay uses a donor molecule containing a fluorescent self-quenched neutral lipid that is transferred to an acceptor molecule in the presence of CETP. CETPmediated transfer of the fluorescent neutral lipid to the acceptor molecule results in an increase in fluorescence (Ex/Em: 465/535 nm).
CETP Activity Assay
The CETP activity was detected with CETP Activity Assay Kit with 8ug of protein CETP in the buffer 10 mM Tris, pH 7.5, 150 mM NaCl, 2 mM EDTA. The fresh rabbit serum (3 ul) and non-CETP background were used as positive and negative controls, respectively.
Preparation and Storage
Stable for 1 year at -20°C.
Avoid multiple freeze/thaw cycles as activity may decrease.

Related Product Information for CETP active protein
Cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP), also called plasma lipid transfer protein, is a plasma protein that facilitates the transport of cholesteryl esters and triglycerides between the lipoproteins. It collects triglycerides from very-low-density (VLDL) or low-density lipoproteins (LDL) and exchanges them for cholesteryl esters from high-density lipoproteins (HDL), and vice versa. Inhibition of CETP has been proposed as a strategy to raise HDL cholesterol levels, a potential an approach to retarding atherogenesis and a strategy to reduce cardiovascular risk.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is found in plasma, where it is involved in the transfer of cholesteryl ester from high density lipoprotein (HDL) to other lipoproteins. Defects in this gene are a cause of hyperalphalipoproteinemia 1 (HALP1). Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2013]

Uniprot Description

CETP: Involved in the transfer of insoluble cholesteryl esters in the reverse transport of cholesterol. Defects in CETP are the cause of hyperalphalipoproteinemia type 1 (HALP1). Affected individuals show high levels of alpha-lipoprotein (high density lipoprotein/HDL). Belongs to the BPI/LBP/Plunc superfamily. BPI/LBP family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The CETP cetp (Catalog #AAA844442) is an Active Protein produced from Insect Cells and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. Active CETP is useful as standard in CETP activity assay, studying CETP regulation, determining target substrates, screening CETP inhibitors, performing structure-activity relationship (SAR) studies, etc. We recommend using 5-10 g protein per assay for analyzing CETP activity. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CETP cetp for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CETP, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
