Monensin is an antiprotozoal agent produced by Streptomyces cinnamonensis. It has an inhibitory effect on the Wnt/beta-catenin signaling cascade. Monensin is a prospective anticancer drug for the therapy of neoplasia with deregulated Wnt signaling.
