Related Product Information for IL-8 recombinant protein
Description: Interleukin-8 (IL-8), also known as CXCL8, is an ELR-positive CXC family member chemokine produced by macrophages and other cell types such as epithelial cells. ELR-positive CXC chemokines such as IL-8 specifically induce the migration of neutrophils, and interact with chemokine receptors CXCR1 and CXCR2. Human IL-8 Recombinant Protein is purified interleukin-8 produced in yeast.

Background: Interleukin-8 (IL-8), also known as CXCL8, is an ELR-positive CXC family member chemokine produced by macrophages and other cell types such as epithelial cells. There have been 17 different CXC chemokines described in mammals that are subdivided into two categories: those with a specific amino acid sequence (or motif) of glutamic acid-leucine-arginine (or ELR for short) immediately before the first cysteine of the CXC motif (ELR-positive), and those without an ELR motif (ELR-negative). ELR-positive CXC chemokines such as IL-8 specifically induce the migration of neutrophils, and interact with chemokine receptors CXCR1 and CXCR2.

Uniprot Description

Function: IL-8 is a chemotactic factor that attracts neutrophils, basophils, and T-cells, but not monocytes. It is also involved in neutrophil activation. It is released from several cell types in response to an inflammatory stimulus.

Subunit structure: Homodimer.

Subcellular location: Secreted.

Tissue specificity: Alveolar macrophages.

Induction: By lipopolysaccharide (LPS).

Post-translational modification: Citrullination at Arg-27 prevents proteolysis, and dampens tissue inflammation, it also enhances leukocytosis, possibly through impaired chemokine clearance from the blood circulation

By similarity.

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the intercrine alpha (chemokine CxC) family.

Product Notes

The IL-8 il8 (Catalog #AAA258218) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Yeast and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Human IL-8 protein can be used in cell culture, as an IL-8 ELISA Standard, and as a Western Blot Control. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the IL-8 il8 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: EGAVLPRSAK ELRCQCIKTY SKPFHPKFIK ELRVIESGPH CANTEIIVKL SDGRELCLDP KENWVQRVVE KFLKRAENS (79). It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "IL-8, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
