Preparation and Storage
Storage: Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles. Store at 2-8 degree C for one month. Aliquot and store at -80 degree C for 12 months.
Stability Test: The thermal stability is described by the loss rate of the targetprotein. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37 degree C for 48h, and no obvious degradation andprecipitation were observed. The loss of this protein is less than 5% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

Uniprot Description

gp130: gp130 is a ubiquitously expressed type I cytokine family receptor. The receptor systems for IL6, LIF, OSM, CNTF, IL11 AND CT1 utilize gp130 for initiating signal transmission. Binds to IL6/IL6R (alpha chain) complex, resulting in the formation of high-affinity IL6 binding sites, and transduces the signal. Does not directly bind IL6. May have a role in embryonic development. Contains 5 fibronectin type III domains and 1 immunoglobulin-like C2-type domain. Two alternatively spliced isoforms have been described.

Protein type: Receptor, cytokine; Membrane protein, integral

Cellular Component: extracellular space; cell soma; membrane; oncostatin-M receptor complex; dendrite; integral to membrane; interleukin-6 receptor complex; cytosol; external side of plasma membrane

Molecular Function: interleukin-11 binding; hematopoietin/interferon-class (D200-domain) cytokine receptor activity; protein binding; interleukin-6 binding; interleukin-6 receptor binding; leukemia inhibitory factor receptor activity; protein heterodimerization activity; oncostatin-M receptor activity; growth factor binding; ciliary neurotrophic factor receptor activity; interleukin-6 receptor activity; ciliary neurotrophic factor receptor binding; interleukin-11 receptor activity

Biological Process: glycogen metabolic process; cytokine and chemokine mediated signaling pathway; leukemia inhibitory factor signaling pathway; positive regulation of smooth muscle cell migration; signal transduction; positive regulation of tyrosine phosphorylation of Stat3 protein; positive regulation of osteoblast differentiation; positive regulation of tyrosine phosphorylation of Stat1 protein; regulation of Notch signaling pathway; reduction of cytosolic calcium ion concentration; response to cytokine stimulus; positive regulation of cell proliferation; positive regulation of T cell proliferation; triacylglycerol mobilization; positive regulation of astrocyte differentiation

It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Glycoprotein 130, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
