Principle of the Assay: This assay employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate IL23A in samples. An antibody specific for IL23A has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyIL23A present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for IL23A is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of IL23A bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

Uniprot Description

Associates with IL12B to form the IL-23 interleukin, a heterodimeric cytokine which functions in innate and adaptive immunity. IL-23 may constitute with IL-17 an acute response to infection in peripheral tissues. IL-23 binds to a heterodimeric receptor complex composed of IL12RB1 and IL23R, activates the Jak-Stat signaling cascade, stimulates memory rather than naive T-cells and promotes production of proinflammatory cytokines. IL-23 induces autoimmune inflammation and thus may be responsible for autoimmune inflammatory diseases and may be important for tumorigenesis ().
