Related Product Information for IFN-gamma recombinant protein
Recombinant human IFN-gamma was expressed in E Coli cells and purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques. The protein accession number is NP_000610.2.
IFN-gamma encodes the ligand-binding chain (alpha) of the gamma interferon receptor which is a heterodimer of IFNGR1 and IFNGR2 and IFNGR1 is associated with susceptibility to Helicobacter pylori infection. IFN-gamma and lymphocytes prevent primary tumour development and shape tumour immunogenicity (1). IFN-gamma is also a cause of mendelian susceptibility to mycobacterial disease, also known as familial disseminated atypical mycobacterial infection. IFNG is a regulator of hematopoietic stem cells during homeostasis and under conditions of infectious stress (2).

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the type II interferon family. The protein encoded is a soluble cytokine with antiviral, immunoregulatory and anti-tumor properties and is a potent activator of macrophages. Mutations in this gene are associated with aplastic anemia.[provided by RefSeq, Nov 2009]

Uniprot Description

IFNG: Produced by lymphocytes activated by specific antigens or mitogens. IFN-gamma, in addition to having antiviral activity, has important immunoregulatory functions. It is a potent activator of macrophages, it has antiproliferative effects on transformed cells and it can potentiate the antiviral and antitumor effects of the type I interferons. Homodimer. Released primarily from activated T lymphocytes. Belongs to the type II (or gamma) interferon family.

Product Notes

The IFN-gamma ifng (Catalog #AAA517099) is a Recombinant Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's IFN-gamma can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Cell Assay. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the IFN-gamma ifng for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "IFN-gamma, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
