Principle of the Assay: This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for ID1 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any ID1 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for ID1 is added to the wells. After washing, avidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of ID1 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a helix-loop-helix (HLH) protein that can form heterodimers with members of the basic HLH family of transcription factors. The encoded protein has no DNA binding activity and therefore can inhibit the DNA binding and transcriptional activation ability of basic HLH proteins with which it interacts. This protein may play a role in cell growth, senescence, and differentiation. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

ID1: ID (inhibitor of DNA binding) HLH proteins lack a basic DNA-binding domain but are able to form heterodimers with other HLH proteins, thereby inhibiting DNA binding. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The Human ID1 id1 (Catalog #AAA911748) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA911748 ELISA Kit recognizes Human ID1. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "inhibitor of DNA binding 1, dominant negative helix-loop-helix protein, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
