Related Product Information for a2-Macroglobulin, inhibitor
Alpha 2-Macroglobulin is a plasma protein mainly synthesized in the liver. It functions as a proteinase inhibitor. It is a tetrameric molecule with a molecular weight of 720kD. It usually occurs in serum at 1000-1500mg/L. Following conformational change, the proteinase is deposited within a central cavity where it is still active, but prevented from further contact with its substrate. Removal of the complex is mediated by the generation of recognition sites which react with receptors on a variety of cells including macrophages and liver cells.

Product Notes

The a2-Macroglobulin (Catalog #AAA655471) is an Inhibitor produced from Human Plasma and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "a2-Macroglobulin, Inhibitor" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
