Uniprot Description

Component of NMDA receptor complexes that function as heterotetrameric, ligand-gated ion channels with high calcium permeability and voltage-dependent sensitivity to magnesium. Channel activation requires binding of the neurotransmitter glutamate to the epsilon subunit, glycine binding to the zeta subunit, plus membrane depolarization to eliminate channel inhibition by Mg2+ (PubMed:1377365, PubMed:26912815). Sensitivity to glutamate and channel kinetics depend on the subunit composition (PubMed:1377365). In concert with DAPK1 at extrasynaptic sites, acts as a central mediator for stroke damage. Its phosphorylation at Ser-1303 by DAPK1 enhances synaptic NMDA receptor channel activity inducing injurious Ca2+ influx through them, resulting in an irreversible neuronal death (PubMed:20141836). Contributes to neural pattern formation in the developing brain (PubMed:8789948). Plays a role in long-term depression (LTD) of hippocampus membrane currents and in synaptic plasticity (PubMed:8789948).

Product Notes

The NMDAR2B grin2b (Catalog #AAA859299) is an Antibody and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The NMDAR2B (Phospho-Tyr1474) Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's NMDAR2B can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), ELISA (EIA). WB: 1:500~1:1000 IHC: 1:50~1:100 ELISA: 1:5000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the NMDAR2B grin2b for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "NMDAR2B, Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
