Related Product Information for VPS53 elisa kit
Principle of the assay: VPS53 ELISA kit applies the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique utilizing a monoclonal anti-VPS53 antibody and an VPS53-HRP conjugate. The assay sample and buffer are incubated together with VPS53-HRP conjugate in pre-coated plate for one hour. After the incubation period, the wells are decanted and washed five times. The wells are then incubated with a substrate for HRP enzyme. The product of the enzyme-substrate reaction forms a blue colored complex. Finally, a stop solution is added to stop the reaction, which will then turn the solution yellow. The intensity of color is measured spectrophotometrically at 450nm in a microplate reader. The intensity of the color is inversely proportional to the VPS53 concentration since VPS53 from samples and VPS53-HRP conjugate compete for the anti-VPS53 antibody binding site. Since the number of sites is limited, as more sites are occupied by VPS53 from the sample, fewer sites are left to bind VPS53-HRP conjugate. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The VPS53 concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a protein with sequence similarity to the yeast Vps53p protein. Vps53p is involved in retrograde vesicle trafficking in late Golgi. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

VPS53: May be involved in retrograde transport of early and late endosomes to the late Golgi. The GARP complex is required for the maintenance of the cycling of mannose 6-phosphate receptors between the TGN and endosomes, this cycling is necessary for proper lysosomal sorting of acid hydrolases such as CTSD. Belongs to the VPS53 family. 4 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 17p13.3

Cellular Component: Golgi apparatus; perinuclear region of cytoplasm; endosome membrane

Molecular Function: protein binding

Biological Process: protein transport; retrograde transport, endosome to Golgi

Disease: Pontocerebellar Hypoplasia, Type 2e

Product Notes

The Human VPS53 vps53 (Catalog #AAA7200893) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA7200893 ELISA Kit recognizes Human VPS53. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Vacuolar protein sorting associated protein 53 homolog (VPS53), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
