Human
Specificity
This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of Human TSP-2. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between Human TSP-2 and analogues was observed. Note: Limited by current skills and knowledge, it is impossible for us to complete the cross- reactivity detection between Human TSP-2 and all the analogues, therefore, cross reaction may still exist.

Related Product Information for TSP-2 elisa kit
Description: The kit is a sandwich enzyme immunoassay for in vitro quantitative measurement of TSP-2 in human serum, plasma and other biological fluids
Principle of the Assay: This ELISA kit uses Sandwich-ELISA as the method. The micro ELISA plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to Human TSP-2. Standards or samples are added to the appropriate micro ELISA plate wells and bound by the specific antibody. Then a biotinylated detection antibody specific for Human TSP-2 and Avidin-Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugate is added to each micro plate well successively and incubated. Free components are washed away. The substrate solution is added to each well. Only those wells that contain Human TSP-2, biotinylated detection antibody and Avidin-HRP conjugate will appear blue in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of a sulphuric acid solution and the color turns yellow. The optical density (OD) is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm +/- 2 nm. The OD value is proportional to the concentration of Human TSP-2. You can calculate the concentration of Human TSP-2 in the samples by comparing the OD of the samples to the standard curve.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the thrombospondin family. It is a disulfide-linked homotrimeric glycoprotein that mediates cell-to-cell and cell-to-matrix interactions. This protein has been shown to function as a potent inhibitor of tumor growth and angiogenesis. Studies of the mouse counterpart suggest that this protein may modulate the cell surface properties of mesenchymal cells and be involved in cell adhesion and migration. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

THBS2: Adhesive glycoprotein that mediates cell-to-cell and cell-to-matrix interactions. Ligand for CD36 mediating antiangiogenic properties. Genetic variations in THBS2 may be a cause of susceptibility to intervertebral disk disease (IDD); also known as lumbar disk herniation (LDH). IDD is one of the most common musculo-skeletal disorders and the predominant cause of low-back pain and unilateral leg pain. Belongs to the thrombospondin family.

Protein type: Motility/polarity/chemotaxis

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 6q27

Cellular Component: extracellular region; basement membrane

Molecular Function: heparin binding; protein binding; calcium ion binding

Biological Process: positive regulation of synaptogenesis; negative regulation of angiogenesis; cell adhesion

Disease: Intervertebral Disc Disease

Product Notes

The Human TSP-2 thbs2 (Catalog #AAA2513310) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA2513310 ELISA Kit recognizes Human TSP-2. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "TSP-2, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
