Principle of the Assay: Human Transient Receptor Potential Cation Channel Subfamily M Member 1 (TRPM1) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate TRPM1 in samples. An antibody specific for TRPM1 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any TRPM1 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, HRP-Conjugated Human TRPM1 detection antibody is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound HRP reagent, a Chromogen solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of TRPM1 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

Background/Introduction: Transient receptor potential cation channel subfamily M member 1 is a protein similar to the transient receptor potential (Trp) calcium channel family members. The expression of this protein is inversely correlated with melanoma aggressiveness, suggesting that it suppresses melanoma metastasis

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the transient receptor potential melastatin subfamily of transient receptor potential ion channels. The encoded protein is a calcium permeable cation channel that is expressed in melanocytes and may play a role in melanin synthesis. Specific mutations in this gene are the cause autosomal recessive complete congenital stationary night blindness-1C. The expression of this protein is inversely correlated with melanoma aggressiveness and as such it is used as a prognostic marker for melanoma metastasis. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2011]

Uniprot Description

TRPM1: a transient receptor potential (TRP) ion channel. TRP voltage-independent calcium-permeable cation channels are divided into six subfamilies, two of which (TRPC and TRPM) have members that are widely expressed. Its expression is inversely correlated with melanoma aggressiveness, suggesting that it suppresses melanoma metastasis.

Product Notes

The Human TRPM1 trpm1 (Catalog #AAA9713799) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA9713799 ELISA Kit recognizes Human TRPM1. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Transient Receptor Potential Cation Channel Subfamily M Member 1 (TRPM1), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
