Principle of the Assay: Human Tensin-1 (TNS1) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate TNS1 in samples. An antibody specific for TNS1 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any TNS1 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, HRP-Conjugated Human TNS1 detection antibody is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound HRP reagent, a Chromogen solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of TNS1 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

The protein encoded by this gene localizes to focal adhesions, regions of the plasma membrane where the cell attaches to the extracellular matrix. This protein crosslinks actin filaments and contains a Src homology 2 (SH2) domain, which is often found in molecules involved in signal transduction. This protein is a substrate of calpain II. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Apr 2015]
