Test Principle
This assay employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate SORL1 in samples. An antibody specific for SORL1 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anySORL1 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for SORL1 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of SORL1 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
Preparation and Storage
Store at 2-8 degree C. Please refer to Instruction Manual.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a mosaic protein that belongs to at least two families: the vacuolar protein sorting 10 (VPS10) domain-containing receptor family, and the low density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR) family. The encoded protein also contains fibronectin type III repeats and an epidermal growth factor repeat. The encoded protein is translated as a preproprotein and likely plays roles in endocytosis and sorting. There may be an association between expression of this locus and Alzheimer's Disease.[provided by RefSeq, Sep 2010]

Uniprot Description

SORL1: Likely to be a multifunctional endocytic receptor, that may be implicated in the uptake of lipoproteins and of proteases. Binds LDL, the major cholesterol-carrying lipoprotein of plasma, and transports it into cells by endocytosis. Binds the receptor- associated protein (RAP). Could play a role in cell-cell interaction. Belongs to the VPS10-related sortilin family. SORL1 subfamily.

Product Notes

The Human SORL1 sorl1 (Catalog #AAA2802029) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA2802029 ELISA Kit recognizes Human SORL1. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Sortilin-related receptor (SORL1), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
