Usage Notes
* Do not mix components from different kit lots or use reagents beyond the kit expiration date.
* Allow all reagents to warm to room temperature for at least 30 minutes before opening.
* Pre-rinse the pipet tip with reagent, use fresh pipet tips for each sample, standard and reagent to avoid contamination.
* Unused wells must be kept desiccated at 4 degree C in the sealed bag provided.
* Mix Thoroughly is very important for the result. It is recommended using low frequency oscillator or slight hand shaking every 10 minutes.
* It is recommended that all samples and standards be assayed in duplicate or triplicate.
Preparation and Storage
Store at 2-8 degree C.

Related Product Information for SIALIN elisa kit
Description: This Human Sialin (SLC17A5) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate SLC17A5 in samples. An antibody specific for SLC17A5 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any SLC17A5 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for SLC17A5 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of SLC17A5 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

Background: The SLC17A5 gene encodes a vesicular excitatory amino acid transporter (VEAT) with dual physiologic functions. When present in synaptic vesicles in the central nervous system, sialin is responsible for vesicular storage and subsequent exocytosis of aspartate and glutamate. When present in lysosomes, it acts as an H(+)-coupled sialic acid exporter. The isolated sequence encoded a predicted 495-residue protein with homology to members of the anion/cation symporter (ACS) family of transporters. This family contains eukaryotic inorganic anion transporters (such as Na+/phosphate cotransporters) as well as prokaryotic organic anion transporters (including H+/acid sugar symporters for hexuronate and glucarate).

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a membrane transporter that exports free sialic acids that have been cleaved off of cell surface lipids and proteins from lysosomes. Mutations in this gene cause sialic acid storage diseases, including infantile sialic acid storage disorder and and Salla disease, an adult form. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Product Notes

The Human SIALIN slc17a5 (Catalog #AAA9714288) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA9714288 ELISA Kit recognizes Human SIALIN. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Sialin (SLC17A5), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
