Principle of the Assay: This assay employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate DDX28 in samples. An antibody specific for DDX28 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyDDX28 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for DDX28 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of DDX28 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

NCBI Description

DEAD box proteins, characterized by the conserved motif Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp (DEAD), are putative RNA helicases. They are implicated in a number of cellular processes involving alteration of RNA secondary structure, such as translation initiation, nuclear and mitochondrial splicing, and ribosome and spliceosome assembly. Based on their distribution patterns, some members of the DEAD box protein family are believed to be involved in embryogenesis, spermatogenesis, and cellular growth and division. This gene is intronless. It encodes an RNA-dependent ATPase. The encoded protein is localized in the mitochondria and the nucleus, and can be transported between the mitochondria and the nucleus.
