Human Potassium Voltage-Gated Channel Subfamily KQT Member 1 (KCNQ1) ELISA Kit
Principle of the Assay: This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with human KCND1 antibody. KCND1 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated human KCND1 Antibody is added and binds to KCND1 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated KCND1 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of human KCND1. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
pore-forming subunit of potassium channels; mutations in human homolog are associated with both Romano-Ward syndrome and Jervell and Lange-Nielsen syndrome [RGD, Feb 2006]
Uniprot Description
Potassium channel that plays an important role in a number of tissues, including heart, inner ear, stomach and colon (). Associates with KCNE beta subunits that modulates current kinetics () (PubMed:21911611). Induces a voltage-dependent by rapidly activating and slowly deactivating potassium-selective outward current () (PubMed:11220365). Promotes also a delayed voltage activated potassium current showing outward rectification characteristic (PubMed:11220365). During beta-adrenergic receptor stimulation participates in cardiac repolarization by associating with KCNE1 to form the I(Ks) cardiac potassium current that increases the amplitude and slows down the activation kinetics of outward potassium current I(Ks) () (PubMed:11220365). Muscarinic agonist oxotremorine-M strongly suppresses KCNQ1/KCNE1 current (). When associated with KCNE3, forms the potassium channel that is important for cyclic AMP-stimulated intestinal secretion of chloride ions (). This interaction with KCNE3 is reduced by 17beta-estradiol, resulting in the reduction of currents (PubMed:21911611). During conditions of increased substrate load, maintains the driving force for proximal tubular and intestinal sodium ions absorption, gastric acid secretion, and cAMP-induced jejunal chloride ions secretion (). Allows the provision of potassium ions to the luminal membrane of the secretory canaliculus in the resting state as well as during stimulated acid secretion (). When associated with KCNE2, forms a heterooligomer complex leading to currents with an apparently instantaneous activation, a rapid deactivation process and a linear current-voltage relationship and decreases the amplitude of the outward current (). When associated with KCNE4, inhibits voltage-gated potassium channel activity (). When associated with KCNE5, this complex only conducts current upon strong and continued depolarization (). Also forms a heterotetramer with KCNQ5 that has a voltage-gated potassium channel activity (). Binds with phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate ().

Product Notes
The Human KCNQ1 kcnq1 (Catalog #AAA1603224) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA1603224 ELISA Kit recognizes Human KCNQ1. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Potassium Voltage-Gated Channel Subfamily KQT Member 1 (KCNQ1), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
