Intended Uses: This sandwich kit is for the accurate quantitative detection of human kallikrein 13 (also known as KLK13) in serum, plasma, cell culture supernates, cell lysates, tissue homogenates.
Principles of the Assay: This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with human KLK13 antibody. KLK13 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated human KLK13 Antibody is added and binds to KLK13 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated KLK13 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of human KLK13. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Kallikreins are a subgroup of serine proteases having diverse physiological functions. Growing evidence suggests that many kallikreins are implicated in carcinogenesis and some have potential as novel cancer and other disease biomarkers. This gene is one of the fifteen kallikrein subfamily members located in a cluster on chromosome 19.
