Human Inward rectifier potassium channel 18, KCNJ18 ELISA Kit
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a member of the inwardly rectifying potassium channel family. Transcription of this locus is regulated by thyroid hormone, and the encoded protein plays a role in resting membrane potential maintenance. Mutations in this locus have been associated with thyrotoxic hypokalemic periodic paralysis. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2013]
Uniprot Description
KCNJ18: Inward rectifier potassium channels are characterized by a greater tendency to allow potassium to flow into the cell rather than out of it. Their voltage dependence is regulated by the concentration of extracellular potassium; as external potassium is raised, the voltage range of the channel opening shifts to more positive voltages. The inward rectification is mainly due to the blockage of outward current by internal magnesium. Belongs to the inward rectifier-type potassium channel (TC 1.A.2.1) family. KCNJ12 subfamily. Up-regulated by triiodothyronine
Protein type: Membrane protein, multi-pass
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: -
Cellular Component: integral to membrane; plasma membrane
Molecular Function: inward rectifier potassium channel activity
Disease: Thyrotoxic Periodic Paralysis, Susceptibility To, 2

Product Notes
The Human KCNJ18 kcnj18 (Catalog #AAA9306449) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA9306449 ELISA Kit recognizes Human KCNJ18. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Inward rectifier potassium channel 18, KCNJ18, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
