Background/Introduction: Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is the cause of the Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS). HIV-1 protease is a retroviral aspartyl protease (retropepsin) that is essential for the life-cycle of the virus as it cleaves newly synthesized polyproteins at the appropriate places to create the mature protein components of an infectious HIV virion. Without effective HIV-1 protease, HIV virions remain non-infectious. HIV-1 Protease Inhibitor Screening kit utilizes the ability of active HIV-1 protease to cleave a synthetic peptide substrate resulting in the release of free fluorophore, which can be easily quantified using a fluorometer or fluorescence microplate reader. In the presence of a HIV-1 Protease inhibitor, the cleavage of the substrate is reduced/abolished resulting in decrease or total loss of the fluorescence. This simple and high-throughput adaptable assay kit can be used to screen/study/characterize potential inhibitors of HIV-1 Protease.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a cytokine that acts as a regulator of a variety of hematopoietic cells. This cytokine stimulates cell proliferation and prevents apoptosis. It functions through the interleukin 9 receptor (IL9R), which activates different signal transducer and activator (STAT) proteins and thus connects this cytokine to various biological processes. The gene encoding this cytokine has been identified as a candidate gene for asthma. Genetic studies on a mouse model of asthma demonstrated that this cytokine is a determining factor in the pathogenesis of bronchial hyperresponsiveness. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Product Notes

The Human IL-9 il9 (Catalog #AAA846479) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA846479 ELISA Kit recognizes Human IL-9. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "IL-9, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
