Related Product Information for BRCA2 elisa kit
Description: The kit is a sandwich enzyme immunoassay for in vitro quantitative measurement of BRCA2 in human serum, plasma and other biological fluids
Principle of the Assay: This ELISA kit uses Sandwich-ELISA as the method. The micro ELISA plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to Human BRCA2. Standards or samples are added to the appropriate micro ELISA plate wells and bound by the specific antibody. Then a biotinylated detection antibody specific for Human BRCA2 and Avidin-Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugate is added to each micro plate well successively and incubated. Free components are washed away. The substrate solution is added to each well. Only those wells that contain Human BRCA2, biotinylated detection antibody and Avidin-HRP conjugate will appear blue in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of a sulphuric acid solution and the color turns yellow. The optical density (OD) is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm +/- 2 nm. The OD value is proportional to the concentration of Human BRCA2. You can calculate the concentration of Human BRCA2 in the samples by comparing the OD of the samples to the standard curve.

NCBI Description

Inherited mutations in BRCA1 and this gene, BRCA2, confer increased lifetime risk of developing breast or ovarian cancer. Both BRCA1 and BRCA2 are involved in maintenance of genome stability, specifically the homologous recombination pathway for double-strand DNA repair. The BRCA2 protein contains several copies of a 70 aa motif called the BRC motif, and these motifs mediate binding to the RAD51 recombinase which functions in DNA repair. BRCA2 is considered a tumor suppressor gene, as tumors with BRCA2 mutations generally exhibit loss of heterozygosity (LOH) of the wild-type allele. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2008]

Uniprot Description

BRCA2: involved in double-strand break repair and/or homologous recombination. May participate in S phase checkpoint activation. Interacts with RAD51 and DSS1. Interacts with ubiquitinated FANCD2. Interacts with PALB2, enables the recombinational repair and checkpoint functions. Interacts with WDR16. Defects in BRCA2 are a cause of genetic susceptibility to breast cancer and may underlie susceptibility to uveal melanoma.

Product Notes

The Human BRCA2 brca2 (Catalog #AAA2501553) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA2501553 ELISA Kit recognizes Human BRCA2. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "BRCA2, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
