Related Product Information for SNCA elisa kit
Background/Introduction: Alpha-synuclein is a protein that is abundant in the human brain, mainly at the tips of nerve cells (neurons) in specialized structures called presynaptic terminals. Although the function of alpha-synuclein is not well understood, studies suggest that it plays a role in maintaining a supply of synaptic vesicles in presynaptic terminals by clustering synaptic vesicles. It may also help regulate the release of dopamine, a type of neurotransmitter that is critical for controlling the start and stop of voluntary and involuntary movements. Mutations of alpha-synuclein may cause it to form amyloid-like fibrils that contribute to Parkinson's disease. SNCA ELISA kit is a sandwich ELISA assay for the quantitative measurement of human SNCA in serum, plasma and cell culture supernatants. The density of color is proportional to the amount of human SNCA captured from the samples.

NCBI Description

may play a role in regulation of synaptic vesicle biogenesis and organization; may be involved in neurotransmission [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

SNCA: a member of the synuclein family that is abundantly expressed in the brain. Inhibits phospholipase D2 selectively. May integrate presynaptic signaling and membrane trafficking. Aggregated forms of the protein are implicated in the pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease. A major component of amyloid plaques in the brains of patients with Alzheimer's disease. Three alternatively spliced human isoforms have been identified.

Product Notes

The Human SNCA snca (Catalog #AAA846737) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA846737 ELISA Kit recognizes Human SNCA. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "alpha-Synuclein (SNCA), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
