NCBI Description

Proteins that are unfolded or misfolded in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) must be refolded or degraded to maintain the homeostasis of the ER. DERL2 is involved in the degradation of misfolded glycoproteins in the ER (Oda et al., 2006 [PubMed 16449189]).[supplied by OMIM, Mar 2008]

Uniprot Description

DERL3: Functional component of endoplasmic reticulum-associated degradation (ERAD) for misfolded lumenal glycoproteins, but not that of misfolded nonglycoproteins. May act by forming a channel that allows the retrotranslocation of misfolded glycoproteins into the cytosol where they are ubiquitinated and degraded by the proteasome. May mediate the interaction between VCP and the degradation substrate. Belongs to the derlin family. 4 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral; Membrane protein, multi-pass

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 22q11.23

Cellular Component: integral to endoplasmic reticulum membrane

Molecular Function: protein binding

Biological Process: ER-associated protein catabolic process; unfolded protein response; protein amino acid N-linked glycosylation via asparagine

Product Notes

The DERL2 derl3 (Catalog #AAA3241840) is a Blocking Peptide and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The DERL2 Peptide - C-terminal region reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's DERL2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the DERL2 derl3 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: DVFPNQPGGI RILKTPSILK AIFDTPDEDP NYNPLPEERP GGFAWGEGQR. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "DERL2, Blocking Peptide" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
