Biological Significance
The Trefoil Factor peptides (TFF1, TFF2 and TFF3) are expressed in the gastrointestinal tract, and appear to play an important role in intestinal mucosal defense and repair. TFF1 is essential for normal differentiation of the antral and pyloric gastric mucosa and functions as a gastric-specific tumor suppressor gene. Recombinant human TFF1 is a 6.7 kDa monomeric protein consisting of a 60 amino acid polypeptide chain, which includes a 40-amino acid trefoil motif containing three conserved intramolecular disulfide bonds.
Bioactivity
Determined by its ability to chemoattract human MCF-7 cells using a concentration 5-10 ug/ml.
Endotoxin Levels
Endotoxin level is less than 0.1 ng per ug (1 EU/ug).
Expression System
E Coli
Preparation and Storage
Store at 4 degree C until reconstitution. Following reconstitution aliquot and freeze at -20 degree C for long term storage. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

NCBI Description

Members of the trefoil family are characterized by having at least one copy of the trefoil motif, a 40-amino acid domain that contains three conserved disulfides. They are stable secretory proteins expressed in gastrointestinal mucosa. Their functions are not defined, but they may protect the mucosa from insults, stabilize the mucus layer, and affect healing of the epithelium. This gene, which is expressed in the gastric mucosa, has also been studied because of its expression in human tumors. This gene and two other related trefoil family member genes are found in a cluster on chromosome 21. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Product Notes

The TIFF1 tff1 (Catalog #AAA539414) is an Active Protein produced from Human and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's TIFF1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, User optimized. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the TIFF1 tff1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: Region of TIFF1 protein correspond ing to amino acids EAQTETCTVA PRERQNCGFP GVTPSQCANK GCCFDDTVRG VPWCFYPNTI DVPPEEECEF. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "TIFF1, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
