Traits
Freeze-dried powder.
Usage
Reconstitute in PBS (pH7.4) to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL. Do not vortex.
Preparation and Storage
Storage:
Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Store at 2-8 degree C for one month.
Aliquot and store at -80 degree C for 12 months.

Stability Test:
The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37 degree C for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate is less than 5% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a highly abundant bone protein secreted by osteoblasts that regulates bone remodeling and energy metabolism. The encoded protein contains a Gla (gamma carboxyglutamate) domain, which functions in binding to calcium and hydroxyapatite, the mineral component of bone. Serum osteocalcin levels may be negatively correlated with metabolic syndrome. Read-through transcription exists between this gene and the neighboring upstream gene, PMF1 (polyamine-modulated factor 1), but the encoded protein only shows sequence identity with the upstream gene product. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2015]

Uniprot Description

osteocalcin: Constitutes 1-2% of the total bone protein. It binds strongly to apatite and calcium. Belongs to the osteocalcin/matrix Gla protein family.

Protein type: Cell development/differentiation; Secreted; Secreted, signal peptide

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1q22

Cellular Component: cytoplasm; endoplasmic reticulum lumen; Golgi lumen

Biological Process: ER to Golgi vesicle-mediated transport; osteoblast differentiation; peptidyl-glutamic acid carboxylation; response to vitamin D; signal peptide processing; skeletal development

Product Notes

The OC bglap (Catalog #AAA2086176) is a Small Molecule and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The OVA Conjugated Osteocalcin (OC) reacts with Homo sapiens (Human) and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Osteocalcin (OC) can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunogen; Coating Antigen; Blocking Peptide; ELISA. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the OC bglap for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Osteocalcin (OC), Small Molecule" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
