Application Notes
Reactive with mouse monoclonal antibodies in ELISA and Western Blot assays. Reacts with patient sera and murine monoclonal antibodies in ELISA or Western blot.
Preparation and Storage
May be stored at 4 degree C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add sterile glycerol (40-50%), aliquot and store at -20 degree C or colder. Aliquots are stable for at least 6 months at -20 degree C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.

Glycosylated recombinant ecto-domain of gD produced in Pichia pastoris. HSV gD is a 319 amino acid sequence representing the external domain of the gD molecule without membrane spanning and cytosolic sequences. It encodes a protein of from 33-36kD that contains three sites for glycosylation.
The yeast system adds a mannose core oligosaccharide to N-linked motifs and this may add up to 3,000-5,000 per site. Glycosylation is heterogeneous and results in two dominant forms that correspond to approximately 45kD and 50kD and a minor band at approximately 34kD that is not glycosylated. All three react with HSV gD specific sera and monoclonal antibodies obtained from several sources.
